The book rental program has had much success since it was first introduced to most educators and students. There are many options of renting a college textbook—by purchasing online and getting the physical copy of the book; by downloading a copy like ebook and there are also universities who rent out their textbooks.
As numerous as these textbooks are, there are equally numerous advantages to renting books as compared to purchasing them. The biggest savings that a student could get could be as high as 75% as compared to new textbooks. Most college books are now priced at $100 or so. A bookstore (or an online shop) could rent it for students for only $25. The student also has the option to keep the rented textbook if he wants to. College book rental has really gone a long way from its conception.
Initially, textbook rental programs were funded by some states and some federal resources but now, more and more people are participating into this beneficial program. There are also private businesses that are targeting the student market by renting out college textbooks. In fact, the first ever online private textbook rental shop was the idea of several university graduates. With the growth of a program such as this, more and more businesses would flourish and money would be saved by many parents and college students.
